Thanks-giving

Now that I'm done serving Thanksgiving dinner to 13 people, I have time to think about what I'm thankful for.
Every day I wake up in this miraculous space, make something, and bring a smile to someone's face is a day I'm thankful for. It can all change so fast.

And How Do I Really Feel?
I grew up in Indiana, so I am well aware of the Bayh dynasty. Birch Bayh used to be a decent leader, but his son, Evan has been just as lost in his ideas as the rest of the Republican party leaders today. Today, only months before Evan Bayh will be retiring from Congress I got this email.

Here we go again. With just five days left for the Super Committee to reach a debt deal, hyper-partisanship is once again putting America’s future -- and yours -- in grave peril. Click here to tell Congress to do its job. America’s credit rating was downgraded in August because Congress couldn’t put our country’s fiscal house in order. Imagine how financial markets will react if lawmakers kick the can down the road again. Imagine the damage that will be done by $1.2 trillion in automatic budget cuts if Congress fails to reach a deal. It won’t be pretty… not for our country, not for our economy and not for you. That’s why I urge you to contact your member of Congress right now… not later today, not tomorrow and certainly not when the final hours before the Thanksgiving deadline are ticking away. My friends at No Labels, a nationwide movement to end hyper-partisanship and gridlock that I’m proud to be a part of, are making it easy for you to speak up now. “We the people” -- Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike -- must send a clear and urgent message to Congress: DO YOUR JOB! There are good ideas and common sense solutions on both sides of the aisle. And it’s long past time for America’s national interest to be put above party interest by every member of Congress. But that won’t happen unless you demand it. Thanks for taking a stand against hyper-partisanship and… standing up for America. Sincerely, Senator Evan BayhPaid for by NoLabels.org
Here's my reply to Senator Bayh:
Dear Senator Bayh,
Way to lie! America's credit was downgraded because the Republican's in Congress refused to raise the debt ceiling on time, something that's never been done in the history of this country. It was a purely partisan political move designed to make president Obama look bad. Budget negotiations should NEVER have gone that way. Social security and Medicare should not be touched. The supercommittee is wrong-headed in this. Corporate tax loopholes should be closed, corporate welfare should end, financial markets should be heavily regulated, and the super-rich should start paying their fair share of taxes. Then we'll start seeing some real progress in this beleaguered country of ours. And you should retire already!
Sincerely,
Ellie Wilder
